1. What lives in the Our river?

1. What lives in the Our river?

Participants:
Pupils from 6 years old to young people in their final year at the Lycée (please bring wellies and a change of clothes). Up to a maximum of 50 participants.

Content:
The course participants go into the River Our with rubber boots and catch aquatic animals, which are then observed under stereomicroscopes in the teaching room of the Water Experience Centre. The pupils learn about aquatic wildlife and can ask lots of questions. (Duration approx. 2 hours).

Optional:
Guided tour of our mussel breeding station (duration approx. 30 minutes)
Hike of the participants with their carers to the border triangle. Information material about the route can be requested from us or downloaded from our homepage. (Duration approx. 1 - 1.5 hours, 4 km)
It is always possible to eat sandwiches you have brought with you inside or outside on our benches and tables.

2. Saprobic index/water quality

In the context of ecology lessons for lycées

Participants: Suitable for the excursion suggested by the curriculum for classes 2e and 3e, section C (natural sciences) and others (please note: bring wellies and a change of clothes). Up to a maximum of 25 participants.

Content: The pupils catch aquatic animals in the River Our, which are then observed under stereomicroscopes in the teaching room of the Water Experience Centre. The pupils identify the aquatic animals caught with the help of the available identification material and work in small groups to determine the saprobic index and thus the water quality of the Our. (Duration approx. 3 hours).

A journey of discovery for the little ones

Participants:
This course is aimed specifically at children of kindergarten age (from 4 years). Up to a maximum of 25 children.

Content:
We go into the Mühlengraben with rubber boots and catch aquatic animals such as small freshwater shrimps and insect larvae and onto the large meadow on our site and look for animals in the grass and on the ground. We look for gnawed twigs from beavers, look at the flowers that are blooming in the meadow and play various child-orientated nature and movement games. (Please bring wellies and preferably also muddy trousers and a change of clothes!)

A visit to our mussel breeding station is also possible on request (duration approx. 2-3 hours).
There is always the option of eating home-made sandwiches inside or outside on our benches and tables.
